We are a husband and wife team
(Barry & Elaine Leech); offering a bespoke picture framing
service from our home based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
We started our framing business in January 2002; shortly after
Ester Tan, (the picture framer that Elaine and her cross-stitch
friends had used for 10 years), sold her business.
Elaine and her friends tried
other local picture framers, but they did not produce the same
quality of work as Ester. Elaine suggested that we should start
our own picture framing business, that specialised in framing
needlework to conservation standards. We purchased the necessary
framing equipment and our business was born.
Our speciality is
traditionally framing
needlework to conservation standards, (CROSS-STITCH,
BLACKWORK, TAPESTRIES, EMBROIDERIES, HARDHANGER, STUMPWORK,
etc).
We also frame PRINTS,
PHOTOGRAPHS, PAINTINGS, SPORTS SHIRTS, MEDALS,
CERTIFICATES, 3-D
ITEMS and all WORKS OF ART to your individual taste and
requirements.
Elaine has
been a cross-stitch addict herself for over 16 years now and
traditionally stretches and laces all the needlework before it
is framed. She knows only too well how many hours can be spent
on creating these works of art, and treats each one as if it
were her own. Your needlework will be stretched onto an acid
free backing board and laced with cotton.
We do not use any glues or
self-adhesive tapes in the stretching process.
The following needlework shops
recommend us to their customers, to frame their work to the
highest standards; The Country
Cross-Stitcher (in Woburn),
Threads and Patches
(in Fenny Stratford), Tudor
Rose Patchwork (in Oakley, Bedford), and
HCS Crafts (in Stony
Stratford). Our customers are repeatedly telling us that we have
been highly recommended by these shops to frame their
needlework.
We have a workshop set up at
home, and because our overheads are kept to a minimum we can
offer very competitive prices compared to High Street Framing
shops. We have an extensive range of frame mouldings and
mountboard colours to choose from, and we can offer expert
advice (if required) on the selection of frame mouldings and
mountboard colours to complement your work.
